About DJ ARAFAT
Ange Didier Houon, his real name, was born in 1986 in Abidjan and has had many names: Commandant Koné Zabra, Yorobo 12.500 Volts, Le Zeus, Le Thémistocle, César and today Daishikan. But it is under the name of DJ ARAFAT that this Ivorian superstar is getting ready to sweep across Europe.
For him, music is a family affair, his parents being musicians themselves. But when Arafat decides to abandon his studies to devote himself to his art, he is thrown out by his father.
Disc jockey in maquis and nightclubs before singing”, his Lebanese friends think that Ange Didier behaves like the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. He added ‘DJ’ to his nickname and began his career. DJ Arafat’s first hits were in the coupé décalé style, and it is in this style that Arafat is expanding his musical empire. He sang a duet with Mokobé from 113 and Mory Kanté in 2008 for the hit “African Tonik” and has released nearly a hundred singles since his explosion in 2003 with “Jonathan”, a moving song dedicated to his friend who died prematurely.
On stage, DJ Arafat sets the stage on fire. His style? The power.
For his first international album “Renaissance” released on 28 December 2018 and immediately entered No. 2 in the iTunes France Top, DJ Arafat did not skimp on the means. He has surrounded himself with leading figures in French rap and Afro urban sound: Maitre Gims, Tenor, Naza, Fally Ipupa and Niska. An all-star album full of prestigious guests.
